People watch movies and tv-shows a lot, especially with the rise of covid in recent times people watch them for various factors. Some of these movies and tv- shows gets people hooked to it that they are willing to watch them multiple time.
These individuals not only want to remember and retain information about their favourite movies and tv-shows but are also eager to know every single detail about the tv-show or movies.
While there are multiple ways for the users to remember and retain information about their favourite shows or movies playing quick trivia is much less demanding on the users.

How might we help people remember and know more information about their favourite movies/tv-shows?

Scoping My Target Audience

People who belong to the age group between 15-35 years. A common characteristic among these age group is that they are more competitive in nature compared to the other age groups.

The Solution That I Arrived Upon

Creating a competitive movie and tv-show trivia app that provides interesting details about the movies and tv-shows.

Quick trivia to remember and learn new facts on the movies/tv-shows.

The app provides many tokens to users who score 70% or above in trivia based on their difficulty level of it. The tokens can be used to shop merchandise from their favourite tv shows and movies at a discounted price.

A quiz app helps the user relive and recall the moments they actually watched tv-show or movies to the user bringing in overall happiness.
Helping the user recall the moments and information will drastically improve the overall experience of the user with the product.
Yellow is used as a primary colour because
It brings in a feeling of optimism and joy.
It stimulates the mind and helps us think quickly and make clear decisions.
It also helps us in thinking and recalling a piece of information better. Which is the most required factor for the users of the quiz app.
 

Typeface In Use

When looking into the product at a zoomed-out level. We can see that the product has both the characteristics of friendliness and a competitive side.
So I had to meet the energy and characteristics of the product with the typefaces.
After a few mix and matches and pairings, I figured out that the Nunito and George Rounded are the typefaces pairings that exactly match the product’s characteristics.

Creating quick wireframes helped me quickly bring out the ideas that I had in my mind based on my past experiences of using other products in a more tangible form. Then I iterated upon these screens to get to my final screens.

Home screen

The home screen is a page where the user lands after they open the product. It acts as a page with a lot of integrated subpages. So it had to be designed well so that the user knows where they can find what they are looking for.
Provides multiple ways for the user to search for a particular tv show based on the level of clarity the user has in their mind on which tv show should they play trivia on.
The top navigation panel helps the users to switch between the tv shows and movies so that they get filtered results.

Playing Trivia

The user gets to experience the whole characteristic of the product(friendly yet competitive) while playing trivia. The user has to type in or voice out the answers using the speaker button. If the user is not sure of the answer they can click on the see options menu which causes 5 points to be reduced from the current score on the top of the page.

Learn Interesting Facts

Users always want to know more facts about our favourite tv shows and movies. Providing facts engages the users more and gets them to learn about new things. So providing a fact related to the previous question asked in the trivia when providing the answer helps users take breaks in between answering questions at a fast pace. Which promotes a sense of friendliness and helps users to think better for the next question.

What Were My Learnings And Challenges Faced?

My Learnings

Prioritizing the most important requirements of the product is a very crucial step.
Should separate the thing that has very different functionalities into two different products that are a subset of the overall business.
Could have offered more ease in searching the list of tv-shows and movies by providing filter and sort options.

Figuring out the navigation pattern that could be used for navigating between tv-shows and movies
